Beeswax candles for your Christmas table
Beeswax candles are deliciously sweet-smelling and natural. When burning, they make any room smell fresh and clean with the warm scent of honey; a perfect complement to the Christmas ham sitting in the middle of the dinner table you’ve been anxiously preparing.
Granted, you can buy some nice silver or green Christmas candles or tea light candles from a $2.00 shop to put on your table, but would you really want your family and friends to sit round inhaling perfumes, paraffin, and other harmful ingredients?
Paraffin wax candles are made from petroleum, coal or oil shale. Beeswax is made naturally by bees and is a renewable resource. They don’t contain all of the toxic ingredients you might find from candles sold at the supermarket or $2.00 shop. Paraffin candles are a highly refined petroleum by-product that contain up to 11 toxic compounds and chemicals such as benzene and toluene. Not a good match with Christmas dinner.
If you’re looking forward to being around a table and enjoying a lovely long meal, you need Christmas candles that burn naturally slow and long with no sticky, black petroleum-based soot. Beeswax candles burn longer than other candles and they release negative ions that clean and purify the air. They also smell great.
Yes, they might be a little bit more expensive, but apart from the clear health benefits, bees have gone to a great deal of effort to make them for us. It is estimated that bees must fly over 200,000 kms to collect enough nectar to produce 2.5kgs of honey. And for every 8kg honey produced, 1kg of beeswax is made. That’s a lot of work.
Beeswax Christmas candles are a healthy alternative to paraffin candles and our beeswax honey candles are made right here in New Zealand.
They are wonderful gifts for someone special at Christmas and they make the perfect ‘hostess’ gift. They look great wrapped with pretty paper and twine.
