Bee There or Bee Square
A new festival, The Big Buzz Festival, is coming to Matakana, it’s going to get folks buzzing and we’re going to bee there!!
The Big Buzz Festival
The first ever Big Buzz Festival on the 14th of February 2021 at Matakana Primary School, 952 Matakana Road, Matakana 0985, will be celebrating all things bees and the team from Manuka Corner are looking forward to seeing you.
Experience the wonderful world of these little pollinators, and all things associated with them, from honey to cosmetics, from health to gardening, from conservation to environmental awareness.
A family-friendly, fun-filled country fair in Matakana with food vendors, live entertainment, music, talks and workshops, children’s activities and much more, it will be a positive, fun, constructive event where the community can come together.
Beekeepers’ Brainwave
The Big Buzz Festival is the brainchild of two passionate beekeepers: Grass Esposti and Isabella Sullivan with the aim of raising the awareness of bees and their vital role in pollination.
Free for the love of bees
Entry is free and there be local North Auckland bands, local products, spot prizes and competitions and lots of people from all over Auckland, as well as 500 children from local Rodney schools, and their bee-related projects.
Bees festival saved
After a brief hiccup with financing, the local community and the honey community have stepped up, and organisers couldn’t be more thankful. “Community response has been amazing, and we have had some incredible people and businesses offering funds and products. It is really great to see people coming on board,” said co-organiser Isabella Sullivan.
