What’s turmeric?

This sunset-yellow spice, scientifically known as Curcuma longa, is a much treasured and versatile spice. Part of the ginger family, turmeric has been an important part of ancient Indian Ayurvedic traditions for both cooking and medicine for thousands of years.

The yellow-hued component, curcumin, is a bioactive component that gives turmeric its bright tone as well as its medicinal, therapeutic, and cosmetic properties.

What are the benefits of turmeric?

Turmeric has an extensive list of therapeutic properties. It is well-regarded for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal and antioxidant powers. One of the world’s most studied herbs, it has also been referred to as possibly the most powerful herb on the planet.

Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce redness and calm irritations and skin conditions like eczema and rosacea. It can help reduce puffiness and under-eye darkness caused by poor circulation

Because it is a natural antiseptic, it helps keep bacteria from spreading and is an excellent weapon in the war against acne. Its antibacterial properties can help disinfect, heal and brighten your skin.

Turmeric can deeply hydrate and revitalise skin. It heals dry skin, can slow down the aging process and make skin more supple.

Then we add manuka honey

Why do we add manuka honey to our turmeric soap bar? To give it even more fire power.

Manuka honey is not just any honey

NZ manuka contains a naturally occurring enzyme, methylglyoxal, that produces hydrogen peroxide, effective in killing pathogens, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Manuka honey is a proven superstar for gorgeous smooth skin, keeping it radiant and supple. It is rich in natural enzymes to clean and clear pores. Many studies have highlighted how manuka honey helps to balance your skin’s pH levels and the antimicrobial and antibacterial properties of manuka honey also prevent the growth of certain bacteria. Honey also adds to the lather, giving you a nice bubbly soap bar.
